A Catch-All of a Club Perched atop a Shoppers Drug Mart, Funhaus is a catch-all of a nightclub located at gritty Queen and Bathurst. Longtime Toronto residents and/or club goers might know the space occupied by the Funhaus by its earlier name of Zen Lounge. A less dressed-up spot in Toronto’s smallish Goth scene, Zen Lounge always appealed to a younger and less established crowd than its competition.
Always Something Featuring live events throughout the week, Funhaus always seems to have something going on. Not unlike the Big Bop across the road, Funhaus – as its name might suggest – is a pretty fuss-free place for kids who have no time for line-ups and dress codes. Riding on some of its Goth scene cache from its former life as Zen, a few of the regular recurring events at Funhaus are of a gothic nature, but other recurring events also grace this space. Either way you look at it, Funhaus seems to keep their roster as open minded as the young crowd that frequents it.
Live Action Funhaus also regularly books live acts, and with two spaces to fill, this doesn’t always impede the regular dance party scheduling. On any given week the Funhaus has been known to feature music from all imaginable genres, from hip hop to electro to retro to metal, so be sure to check local listings before heading out to make sure that what they have happening is what you are looking for.
